Studied law at the universities of Mannheim, Freiburg and Heidelberg.

One semester doing research at the College of Administration in Speyer.

During the practical part of his studies he chose to be at the German-French Chamber of Commerce in Paris.

Admitted as a German lawyer in 1981.

Worked as a lawyer in a Mannheim law firm until 1982.

Since 1982 a sole practitioner specialising in social security law and in particular pension law.

Since that time more than 1,000 proceedings before social security courts as well as several thousand extra-judicial proceedings in all areas of social insurance law.

Spring 2001 co-founded the law firm bjw | Böckmann, John, Wiester.

Member of the social welfare law working group of the Society of German Lawyers (Deutsche Anwaltsverein).
